The Edmonton Oilers will be taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight, and are expected to make multiple line changes.
On the second half of back-to-back games and with many extra bodies on the roster, these line changes are routine for the Oilers - but more significant changes are coming very soon.
Edmonton Oilers will make multiple line changes tonight, Zach Hyman ruled out
According to insider Jason Gregor, the Oilers will be scratching Ike Howard and
Ty Emberson for tonight's game. In their place,
David Tomasek and
Alec Regula will enter the lineup.
Additionally,
Calvin Pickard is expected to get the start against Columbus. That's routine with back to back games, but there was some belief from insiders that Skinner could play tonight.
Pickard currently owns an ugly .836 save percentage, while Skinner was lightly tested last night. Either way, Pickard desperately needs to prove he still belongs in the NHL.
As for the rest of the line combinations, the Oilers seem to finally be settling into some pairs. Matt Savoie should remain on the top line with McDavid and Mangiapane, and Draisaitl's line with Podkolzin and Roslovic has been lethal.
The Oilers will still be looking for a better effort tonight against Columbus after barely squeaking out a win in Philadelphia. They showed positive signs against the Flyers, and that needs to continue into tonight's game to get them back on track, and climbing up the standings once again.
