Oilers GM reveals major update on Zach Hyman injury and return timeline

Oilers General Manager Stan Bowman heavily expects forward Zach Hyman to be healthy and in the lineup by the start of the regular season.
Zach Hyman suffered a dislocated wrist and torn tendons in the 3rd round of the playoffs, which took him out of the postseason and required surgery to repair. Until now, his status for Game 1 was unknown.

On yesterday's edition of OilersNow with Bob Stauffer, GM Stan Bowman revealed that Hyman will in fact be ready for the start of the season. The exact return date isn't known yet, but there's no concern he'll miss time.
STAUFFER: Is there any chance that [Zach Hyman] wouldn't be ready for the start of the regular season?
BOWMAN: No, I don't think that's the case right now. I just got an update the other day that he had a recent appointment with the doctor and things are looking good.
It's still hard to predict when he's going to be ready to be cleared for game play, whether that's before camp, during camp, or near the end of camp. I think as we get into camp a little bit more, we'll know that.

Hyman was seen recently at a charity golf tournament in Ontario still wearing his wrist brace.
He'll face a long and intensive rehab to get full strength back for handling shots and passes at the NHL level, but being back for the regular season is great news.
Losing Hyman for the Stanley Cup Final was a brutal break for the Oilers, and showed just how crucial he is to the team's success. Edmonton will be thrilled to see Hyman back and healthy next season.
