NHL analyst believes goalies weren't to blame for Oilers loss in the Stanley Cup Finals

Oilers' goalie Stuart Skinner and Calving Pickard continue to get press attention, almost two months removed from the Stanley Cup Finals.

Except this time, it wasn't the goaltenders themselves that were roasted, but an Oilers' insider for his poor analysis of the Stanley Cup Final. Jason Gregor posted the following comment on social media: You can't just say, swap Stuart Skinner for Sergei Bobrovsky and the Oilers would've won.
The comment may seem oversimplistic, but it happens to be a fairly accurate assumption of the circumstances at the time of the Finals.
The comment by Jason Gregor, however, has plenty of Oilers' fans leaving comments, in which they disagree with the analyst, fans that believe the Oilers would, in fact, have won, had they received better goaltending.
Despite Bobrovsky's numbers being not that much better than Skinner's and Pickard's - not to the point where they made a real difference - it was the former's experience and his ability to win big games, or not give up the next big goal, that was the key difference between the teams' goaltenders. Bobrovsky has a knack for shutting down the goal when a game matters most, a talent he's demonstrated throughout his playoff career.
Jason Gregor went on to state that the Panthers' win, or Oilers' loss, could not be attributed to any one position, as many Edmonton fans believe was the case with the goalie position.
"Good teams win," Jason Gregor says in the video he posted on X. "I don't believe there's a most-important position. Every game is different. Some games the goalie will stand on his head; some games your best offensive forward scores 3 goals and 2 assists, and you win 5-4...There's lots of different ways to win. It's easy to find one person to blame."

Though one cannot dispute Jason's premise, the fact remains that the duo of Edmonton's goalies were out-performed by Sergei Bobrovsky. It's what the 2-time champion does, unfortunately for the Oilers.
Many NHL insiders believe Stan Bowman will make a change in goal before the start of training camp, or once the season has begun, when he can better gauge how the goalies are performing, before making a deal. But the general consensus is that the team is lacking in the goal department.
