As the Edmonton Oilers preseason continues with only 4 games left, the team has announced a fresh round of roster cuts.
The Oilers have already sent back 2 players from training camp to their respective junior teams, and now are continuing to slim down their roster to only include NHL candidates.
Oilers announce 14 players cut from training camp roster
In a new statement released from the Oilers organization, training camp rosters cuts were made official. 13 players were sent back to the Bakersfield Condors, but one player will be placed on waivers.
These cuts are expected AHL players, with nothing surprising standing out. Players that at least remain at Oilers camp have made better impressions than this group.
Forward James Hamblin will be the only player that's eligible for waivers, and will need to clear before he can report to the Bakerfield Condors.
James Hamblin (F) has been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.
- Edmonton Oilers
The 26 year old Edmonton-native Hamblin is a fringe AHL/NHL player, but has earned some real fans in Oil Country. Fans love to cheer for a local kid, but Hamblin also dedicated his first career goal to his late mother - a touching emotional moment.
Hopefully, Hamblin clears waivers and stays in the Oilers organization. He likely will, but the Oilers will officially find out in a few days time.
