Oilers coach Knoblauch has revealed three NHL players are out of commission heading into the final stretch of the preseason.
Jake Walman has missed some time with an injury that went unnoticed by fans during a preseason game. He was initially ruled out as day to day, but now the Oilers may be facing a bigger problem.

According to a new update from Coach Knobaluch at practice today, Jake Walman is now unlikely to appear for the final preseason game on October 3rd, but the team is still hopeful for his return on opening night.
Additionally, Noah Philp and David Tomasek are dealing with an illness, and won't play in the team's next game.
As always with an illness going around the locker room, it likely won't be just Philp and Tomasek who miss a game or two. It may be unfortunate timing, but some players may be sick for opening night in October 3rd.
A roster move is expected to add a my least forward from the AHL while Philp and Tomasek are out. According to Jim Matheson, the team's call-ups will likely be Roby Jarventie and James Hamblin.
It's still reassuring to hear that Walman could play on opening night, but being pushed back from a day to day injury to just hopeful for opening night is a concern.
The Oilers will begin the year without Zach Hyman, and have already been prone to having slow starts to a season. In a must-win year with Connor McDavid unsigned, getting off to a hot start is more crucial than ever. Hopefully, they'll have their lineup as close to full strength as possible.
