Edmonton Oilers insider expects David Tomasek to play top 9 minutes next season
On the most recent edition of OilersNow, insider Bob Stauffer revealed that he has spoken to Tomasek's agent, and expects him to play Top 9 minutes at least to start next year.
«Yeah, well, in the case of Thomas, two years ago in 23-24, with Farstad in the Swedish Hockey League, he led the league in goals. And then last year, he led the league in points.
So this is, and I know for a fact that, because I've talked to people from Octagon about this, he had offers to sign last year, he chose the Oilers. What if I told you I expect him in the top nine?

Especially mentioning a discussion with Tomasek's agency, it's possible that the Oilers may have promised the player a certain role at least to begin the season.
These agreements can sometimes entice European players to sign with one team over another NHL squad, and shows the Oilers really believe in Tomasek translating well to North America.
However, it will also mean another Oilers forward is taken out of the lineup. Kapanen and Janmark are the 2 most likely candidates.
If Tomasek is able to hit the ground running in the NHL and be a meaningful contributor to the Oilers on his $1.2M contract, it'll be a great value signing for the team. It's great to see the team is going to give him every chance to realize his potential.
