Matthew Tkachuk chirps the Edmonton Oilers yet again

It seems there are no depths to which Matthew Tkachuk will sink to bolster his reputation as a first-class chirper.
We've heard about the shots Florida Panthers' pest has fired at the Oilers and its fans over the years. Now, he's at it again. In a recent video posted on social media, Matthew Tkachuk is seen recently celebrating in a club, and chirping the Oilers and
Connor McDavid.
"Connor McDavid who?" Tkachuk shouts into a microphone, while riling-up the crowd around him, chanting over and over, "F--- McDavid, F--- McDavid..."
It's one thing to chirp an opposing player on the ice during a heated battle for the Stanley Cup, and quite another to do it unprovoked in a public forum weeks after you've won the Stanley Cup, while celebrating with others and having a good time. Blame it on the boos, I guess.
Yet, this attitude that Matthew Tkachuk has of getting under opposing players' skin by taking shots at others is not new to the two-time Stanley Cup champion. Following the Panthers' second Cup win, Tkachuk made some disrespectful comments when speaking to Sportsnet.
"Our team was a team," Matthew Tkachuk said. "When things were getting hard for them [Edmonton], they looked to one player. But our team, we do it collectively...And that's why we're lifting the Stanley Cup right now - because we're a team and not a bunch of individuals."
Then, during Florida's Stanley Cup parade in Ft. Lauderdale, Matthew Tkachuk took to the microphone again, unwilling to pass up yet another opportunity to dig at the Edmonton Oilers.
"I heard it's 70 degrees and sunny in Edmonton," he said, "but they ain't got no cup."
Perhaps Matthew Tkachuk is still bitter for being overlooked by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2016 NHL draft, when they chose
Jesse Puljujarvi with their fourth overall pick. Tkachuk was selected sixth overall by the Calgary Flames, thus setting the stage for his participation in the Battle of Alberta.
In 2022, the Oilers eliminated Tkachuk's Calgary Flames in that year's second round of the playoffs. It's hard to imagine he still holds a grudge for the loss, given he's won two Cups since.
Yet, even with the two Stanley Cup rings on his fingers, Matthew Tkachuk choses to chirp and takes shots whenever the opportunity presents itself, showing that he is in fact bitter about something. Perhaps we will never know.
But one thing is certain, sometime soon the player Edmonton fans love to hate will say something about the Oilers that will show there is no love lost between the Edmonton Oilers and Matthew Tkachuk.
