Lower tier prospect receives top grades out of Oilers' training camp

Tyler Yaremchuk of Oilersnation Everyday, in a recent episode of the podcast, had some very encouraging things to say about Oilers' prospect Quinn Hutson.
Quinn Hutson off to a great start in Oilers' preseason games
Though he's not considered a sure-thing for a roster-spot this coming season, Hutson is making a case for a bottom-6 spot nonetheless.
The 23-year old prospect is having a strong preseason thus far, including his goal in a game against the Winnipeg Jets yesterday, a game the Oilers won 3-2.
In fact, Quinn Hutson has recorded points in three of his four games since rookie camp started, demonstrating consistency and a willingness to stand out from the current group of Oilers' prospects competing for a roster spot.
Analyst Tyler Yaremchuk has been quite impressed with Quinn, and had this to say about the prospect, in particular about Quinn's performance against Calgary:
"The guy who's now surprised me in the preseason games and Next Gen games is Quinn Hutson. Even though Calgary had a better roster, I've seen some hands from Quinn Hutson, I've seen him making plays. Maybe there's something there...I was encouraged with [him]."
Rest assured that the coaches have also been encouraged by his preseason performances. While Hutson is not considered a dynamic skater, his hockey IQ, shooting, and passing skills, along with his responsible two-way game, make him a player who could contribute to the Oilers, potentially as bottom-6 winger.
Though Quinn Hutson was undrafted, he signed a two-year entry-level deal with the Oilers in April, 2025, at a cap hot of $875K. Having this kind of affordability in the bottom-6 will help the Oilers build its roster, especially given its cap restraints, as they only have $266K in cap-space remaining.
