With just a week to go until the trade deadline, candidates are coming off the board quickly for upgrades to defence for the Edmonton Oilers. So far this season, Nikita Zadorov, Chris Tanev, and likely Noah Hanifin are all of the board for the Oilers. One of those options is Flyers defenceman Sean Walker, and according to a recent report, he could come with an exorbitant price.

According to Tom Gazzola on the Oil Stream podcast, Walker is emerging as a prime candidate for the Oilers, and the Flyers are asking for two first round draft picks in return.

Considering that Chris Tanev was recently traded for much less than two firsts, the two hosts speculate that the price to acquire Walker may have decreased recently - but it will still be high. In addition, the Oilers will likely circle back on Walker as a free agent this year if they don't already trade for him.

In recent weeks, the Oilers have been heavily linked to the Flyers for multiple trades, including Walker but for veteran center Scott Laughton for the bottom six. The Oilers could make a one-stop shop and address two needs in one trade with the Flyers for both Laughton and Walker, but the price would need to be much less than two firsts.

With just a week to go until the trade deadline, we'll find out in due time what the Oilers do to solidly this roster for an expected deep run into the playoffs. The Oilers should have a legitimate shot at the Stanley Cup this year, and the right trades at the deadline should send this team over the top.
