Despite all the reasons being cited why the Oilers lost in two-straight Stanley Cup Finals, the key to actually winning the Stanley Cup is in their current roster.

The Oilers have proven they are one of the NHL's best by qualifying for the last four Western Conference Finals, and the last two Stanley Cup Finals. But they have yet to win a Stanley Cup, at least not since 1990.
Four Edmonton roster players can propel Oilers to a Stanley Cup win next season
Yet, despite all the criticisms the Oilers' players have received for not being able to beat the Panthers, goaltending and depth scoring being two, there are four reasons why they can win, even with their current roster - 4 players need to have career years.
Ike Howard come over from Tampa Bay after not getting a chance to prove his value. He arrived in Edmonton under much hype, after winning the Hobey Baker Award as the NCAA's MVP.
Ike will undoubtedly get a chance to play with McDavid and/or Draisaitl, as he has the speed and skill to compliment the two stars, and can add depth scoring to the lineup.
Trent Frederic was acquired under some controversy at last year's trade deadline. He was then signed to an 8-year, $3.9M AAV deal. This secured the gritty forward with the Oilers, but has placed huge expectations on him.
Trent must produce at his 2023-24, and 2022-23 capacity, when he scored 36G and 71A , while skating for an average TOI of 13:00. Frederic has the ability to be a true difference make for Edmonton next season.
Stuart Skinner has the spotlight firmly on his crease after losing in two-straight Finals as the starting goalie. His sub-.900 SV% has been his biggest criticism.
Yet, that can be easily rectified by doubling down and having a career year, which he will need to have, given he is a free agent at the end of next season. If he can play the way Stan Bowman believes he can, he will be a winner.
Evan Bouchard signed a 4-year, $10.5M AAV deal, and is the Oilers' stud, number-1 defenseman. He was significant in the playoffs and played to his capacity.
If Evan can continue to be the number-1 guy on defense, his contribution will go a long way toward having a winning year in 2025-26.
