The NHL draft is less than one month away, and it appears that the Edmonton Oilers may have the opportunity to draft the son of their former captain Shawn Horcoff.

Pegged at #49, left winger Will Horcoff may be available for the Oilers to draft as the team does not have their own first round draft pick and will begin in the second round.

Horcoff name carries a long way in Oilers history

The Horcoff name has carried itself through the Edmonton Oilers history as he was drafted by the team in 1998, fourth round 99th overall.
He began his playing career with the Oilers in 2000 all the way until 2013.
Throughout his tenure with the organization, he was a consistent point producer, help guide the Oilers to their Stanley Cup finals in 2006 and was named captain of the team on October 6 2010.
If the Oilers were to draft Horcoff's son, he holds a great frame as he is 6 foot 4 and 181 lbs at the age of 18. He will have plenty of time to fill out his frame as he matures and would likely be a good fit for the middle or bottom six for the Oilers.
He had played for the University of Michigan this year for 18 games, scoring four goals with six assists for 10 points along with six penalty minutes.

Oilers putting final preparations for the Stanley Cup Finals

Meanwhile, the Oilers are putting their final preparations together as they are set open the Stanley Cup finals and have home ice for the first time in these playoffs.
This edition of the Oilers is far deeper than last year's even though they took the Florida Panthers to Game 7 and were only a couple of goals shy of winning the entire tournament.
This season, it seems the Oilers have more depth on all levels and are receiving contributions from every forward line, defenseman and goaltender.
Both the Panthers and the Oilers will be ready to do battle between one another in a rare rematch from one year ago.
Both teams are trying to keep their focus and be ready for the games as Game 1 is set to open on Wednesday June 4th and game time will be 8:00 PM eastern.
