A new name has emerged as a potential front runner for the Edmonton Oilers as pending unrestricted free agent Brock Boeser could be heading to Oil Country.

Boeser Has been rumoured for several months to being on his way out of the Canucks as he seeks a fresh start elsewhere and will likely land with a contender.

Boeser is a playoff performer in the past

The 28-year-old winger has been with the Vancouver Canucks throughout his entire career where he was drafted in 2015, first round 23rd overall.
During the 2023-2024 season, Boeser had the best point production through 81 games where he had scored forty goals with 33 assists for 73 points and was a + 23 with 14 penalty minutes.
According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, Boeser has no positive feelings left for Vancouver, and would be interested in joining Edmonton.
This season has been a stark drop in his totals as he had only scored 25 goals with 25 assists for 50 points and was a - 25, an incredible swing especially in the defensive zone.
The Canucks have been in turmoil throughout the entire year, and it was clearly affecting every player on the team including Boeser which saw the Canucks make several changes including trading JT Miller back to the New York Rangers and seeing their head coach Rick Tocchet choose to leave the organization and head to the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Oilers have been clearing cap space as they had moved Evander Kane to the Canucks and relieving themselves of $5.125 million for next year.
Many feel that the projected cap hit and contract for the scoring winger maybe just under $8 million per season for seven years.

Free agents staring to dry up early before July 1st

Over the past 24 hours, several prominent unrestricted free agents have chosen to remain with their organizations including Toronto Maple Leaf centre John Tavares and Florida Panthers star Sam Bennett.
The Oilers have their own key signing to do this offseason which is restricted free agent Evan Bouchard who is pegged for a $10 million per season contract over eight years.
After signing Trent Frederic to an 8-year contract, the Oilers will need to continue to move pieces around and money to potentially acquire Boeser and it's likely he will remain available until July 1st.
