Connor McDavid gets totally honest on his career and reaching scoring milestone

With his 1100th point last Monday in St. Louis, Connor McDavid became the fourth-fastest to do so, behind only the best of the very best in the game.
Probably not enough, really. There's always something on the go. There's always the next thing, the next game. There's always the next job to do. There are times when you sit back and realize how fortunate I've been to play in this league, and, you know, have some success.
I think as the numbers start getting a little bit bigger, you understand your time in this league is, it's not infinite. You get to spend a short period of time in this league, and as the numbers get a little bit larger, you start to understand your time is not, obviously, it isn't coming to an end soon, but you know, you're never gonna reach these milestones again. You're never gonna get to have your 1,000th point or your 800th point again. So that is nice, you know, having gone through it to sit back and to reflect sometimes.

Connor McDavid on historical scoring pace
In last Monday's game against St. Louis, Connor McDavid scored his 1,100th NHL, and in only 726 games, becoming the 69th player to do so, and the fourth fastest all-time.
The other three legends to reach the 1100-point milestone ahead of Connor are Mike Bossy (725 GP), Mario Lemieux (550), and Wayne Gretzky (464). When you're included in that group, you're doing something right.
Consistency, of course, has been McDavid's trademark. With the exception of his rookie season, in which he scored 48 points in 45 games, McDavid has continuously recorded 100-point campaigns, with his highest being 153 and his lowest, not including his 1st year, 97 points.
It's the mark of greatness and Connor's ability to play at an elite-level, season after season, game after game.
Speaking of legends, earlier this season
Sidney Crosby became the ninth player to reach the 1,700-point mark. It's a level that is rarely achieved, with each subsequent point becoming more and more of a rarity.
In fact, only 4 players have recorded 1,800-points, and even fewer with 1900, just 3.
Of course, Wayne Gretzky is the only player to post 2,000+ points, with 2,857, a virtually unreachable goal.
Yet, Connor McDavid, if he were to continue on the point-pace which he's established in his 10-plus year career, would join Gretzky as the only other talent to reach 2000-points.
