The Edmonton Oilers just got blown out by a score of 9-1, and Connor McDavid showed up for today's practice fired up.

It was potentially the worst loss for the Edmonton Oilers in well over a decade, and should serve as a major wake up call for everyone in the organization. Connor McDavid saw it the same way.

Connor McDavid argues with Coach Knoblauch at practice in tense moment

TSN insider Ryan Rishaug shared a video of today's practice, where he described a tense moment unfolding. Connor McDavid appeared frustrated, passionately arguing with Coach Knoblauch, Evan Bouchard, and Mattias Ekholm.
The group appeared to settle things down quickly, but the frustration among the group is clearly palpable - and it's the necessary response right now.
Frustration has been working its way into Oilers practices lately, as Jake Walman and Trent Frederic had an incident earlier this week too.
It's great to see Connor McDavid arrive for an urgent practice today and vocally challenging his teammates. Now 20% through the season, the Oilers can't say it's early anymore. The time is now to dial it up.

Connor McDavid demands more emotion from Oilers immediately

Connor McDavid had that exact message after practice, saying the team needs to bring much more emotion to the rink which includes practice.
It's been flat. It's no secret it's been flat. That starts with me as a leader. It's been not enough energy, not enough emotion in games, and we got to find a way to bring some of that.

Everybody has more to bring so you start seeing some of that in practice. It's gotta translate into games. It's normal to have conversations with guys about different things we're seeing out there. The game has felt at times unorganized and out of sync, so the only way to work that stuff out is to be talking and communicating with your teammates.

- Connor McDavid
It's great to see McDavid beginning to lead the charge to bring the Oilers back to their full potential - but the rest of the team will have to buy in to turn their season around now.
