Edmonton Oilers fans received some surprising and great news that Oilers superstar Connor McDavid will be suiting up unexpectedly and taking warmups against the St Louis Blues tonight.
McDavid has been out for several weeks and wants back in
Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch explains to the media that McDavid is day to day up to a week to remain out of the lineup. It became clear during the morning skate that McDavid was ready to play, and the Oilers seemed comfortable with their superstar joining back into the lineup.
McDavid has been battling injuries this season and his production has been far lower than it was in previous years as he is played 63 games, scoring 26 goals with 64 assists for 90 points and as a + 11.
Earlier today, it was announced that Ryan Nugent Hopkins is now out of the lineup and the team is still waiting for the return of
Evander Kane who will likely be available during the first round of the playoffs.
Final positioning for the end of the season almost ready for the Oilers
The Oilers are preparing for the last group of games as the team takes on St Louis this evening. The team currently sits third overall in the Pacific division with 93 points and remains four points behind the Los Angeles Kings.
The team is still in the mix for home ice and will try to erase it's two game losing streak. They will have two games at home and two games away where they will face the San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings and the Winnipeg Jets.
