Connor McDavid has yet to score his first goal of the season, and is now being called out for a major problem of overpassing.

Entering this season, McDavid put the NHL on notice and declared he wanted to chase 60 goals again. It was a bold declaration from the Captain, but he hasn't backed it up with a hot start.

Oilers insider calls out Connor McDavid for overpassing

Instead of aiming for more goals, Connor McDavid is drawing criticism for passing on too many quality chances to score.
In one particular play against the Islanders, McDavid passed off a quality chance to give Troy Stecher the puck. Insider Jason Gregor called that decision a major misplay from McDavid.
He's not doing enough. He's not. For Connor McDavid, a few points on empty net goals and power play goals, I'm sorry.

I look at that play from McDavid to pass of that chance in a 3-2 game in the low slot - like, I'm sorry. That's a major gaffe. It's Troy freaking Stecher.

McDavid is an elite playmaker, but the Oilers need him to take over the high danger scoring chances at times - especially instead of passing off to depth defenders.
Plenty of fans have noticed McDavid's overpassing this year, and want to see him make an adjustment to attack the net himself more often. That's the only way to get back to 60 goals.
Hopefully McDavid sees the same when watching the game tape, and decides to take a more aggressive offensive approach in the coming games.
