The Edmonton Oilers got fantastic news at practice today as Leon Draisaitl will return to the lineup to face the Calgary Flames, but some serious worries persist about the superstar's condition.
Leon Draisaitl initially was ruled out of playing for this entire week, meaning he is returning early to face the Calgary Flames.
Oilers fans have real concerns about Draisaitl returning early from injury
Considering that Draisaitl was ruled out of playing this game, some fans are concerned that Draisaitl may be risking aggravating his injury by making an early comeback to the lineup.
That's not to say that all Oilers fans aren't thrilled to get Leon Draisaitl back - they are. However, with only a few weeks left until the postseason, fans aren't concerned with a meaningless regular season game. The priority is entirely on being healthy for the playoffs.
That being said, there shouldn't be too much of a concern that they're rushing Draisaitl back. Draisaitl clearly is itching to get back in the lineup, and with so many other players injured, they wouldn't have had a problem with him missing another game.
Draisaitl's injury was sustained in just an awkward fall against the Utah Hockey Club. He was able to stay in the game through the discomfort, proving that the injury shouldn't be too serious. The Oilers may have just been being cautious by ruling him out longer than the time he missed.
In the end, it's actually great for the fans in attendance to be able to see at least one superstar back in the lineup for the battle of Alberta against the Calgary Flames.
