The Edmonton Oilers stopped a four game losing streak last night with a triumphant win over the New Jersey Devils, but it seems they may have paid a price for it.

In the final minutes of the game, two Oilers' forwards sustained some rough-looking injuries, although hopefully they'll turn out to be minor. Derek Ryan took a brutal hit along the end boards and quickly left the ice in obvious pain, and Sam Gagner also took a particularly nasty stick to the face. Unfortunately, neither incident was caught on video, but was noticed by the many fans and media watching.
Oilers' reporter Jim Matheson noticed both events and commented on them, adding that he believes Sam Gagner may miss tonight's game against the New York Rangers. Due to the fact the Oilers are playing back to back games before a holiday break, they may be more cautious dealing with minor injuries, and allow the two players to heal up.
At the time of writing, it's unknown if either Ryan or Gagner will be absent from the lineup tonight in New York.
