The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly interested in locking up forward Jack Roslovic to a multi-year contract extension.

Discussions of a Roslovic contract extension have been ongoing since the turn of the new year, and are still continuing according to Stauffer. While there is some concern about how he'll fare in the playoffs, the Oilers are confident and moving forward with negotiations.

Oilers insider reveals Jack Roslovic's expected terms on contract extension

According to a new update from Bob Stauffer on today's edition of OilersNow, the Oilers are pursuing a 4-year contract with Roslovic.
I'm going to tell you right now, it's going to be in the fours. If you're the Oilers, you want to keep it to a term of four years. So we'll be monitoring that situation ongoing, because he's got the ability to play in the top six on a regular basis.

Additionally, Stauffer hinted that the salary on the contract would also be in the $4M range, potentially a bit higher.
When Roslovic joined the Oilers on a contract signed on opening night, few people expected he'd immediately make an impact on the roster. Nearly immediately upon joining the team, he found instant chemistry with Draisaitl and put up some impressive offensive numbers.
As he's moved down to the third line though, Roslovic's production has disappeared. In 13 games through the month of January, he only has 2 goals - and 12 games of 0 points. Coming at a moderate salary of $4M or more, he'll be expected to be a real offensive contributor.
His streaky scoring and inability to produce in the bottom six should be a concern, although he may have been misused as a centre. Additionally, Roslovic is a player who's struggled in previous playoffs to the point of being healthy scratched by Carolina.
That being said, as the salary cap rapidly increases, a $4M salary is soon going to look like one of the smaller contracts across the NHL. Also getting a term of 4 years for the 28 year old forward may turn out to be a solid fit.
We'll see if the Oilers can find a way to close this contract, and strike a deal with Roslovic in the coming weeks.
