Jack Roslovic's contract extension price addressed by top Oilers insider
Jack Roslovic is now eligible to re-sign with the Edmonton Oilers, but they may have a hard salary limit of how much they're willing to spend on him.
With the salary cap rapidly rising and Roslovic having a great year, he'll earn a massive raise on his current value of $1.5M. Looking at Alex Wennberg's recent contract of $18M for 3 years, there's a case to be made Roslovic would come in at a similar range of around $6M per year.
Top Oilers insiders address expected salary for Jack Roslovic on next contract
Speaking on OilersNow yesterday, insiders Bob Stauffer and Ryan Rishaug addressed the rumours of Roslovic's $6M asking price. Stauffer insisted that Roslovic wouldn't receive that amount from Edmonton, but Rishaug said he could get it on the open market with a good playoffs.
STAUFFER: I'd be shocked if we're looking at $6M for Jack Roslovic.
RISHAUG: How's he going to do when it gets real in the playoffs? Rob Brind'Amour saw fit to have him sitting in the stands. If I were the Oilers, I would not look at signing this player at all until I have that question answered. Could he get $6M? Yeah.
STAUFFER: If he stays here, it's going to be lower than that. And I see him staying here.

Roslovic is a player who's bounced around the NHL recently, now on his 4th team in 3 seasons. After not getting anything on the open market last season, perhaps Roslovic would be more enticed by the stability of a longer term contract.
If he does prove that he can perform in the playoffs, perhaps the Oilers could offer him a longer term contract with a lower annual cap hit. It shouldn't be an 8-year deal, but 4-5 years could work for Edmonton.
So far he's been a solid fit in Edmonton, and has been versatile with multiple roles. Hopefully he rises to the task in the playoffs, and can be a future piece for the Oilers.
