Hilariously, Stuart Skinner was asked if another Oilers player should be picking up beer for McDavid in an interview with Postmedia. Skinner played it off by saying he didn't know about the incident, but then said McDavid can look after himself.
In the video that surfaced yesterday morning, McDavid kept his head down and just powered through the parking lot and into his car while not acknowledging the fans mobbing him, patting him, and blocking his way to the car. McDavid showed ultimate professionalism in dealing with the situation with his head down, and not making a scene. It's even better to hear that it hasn't become a distraction in the locker room, but the guys are most definitely talking and aware of the incident.
Plenty of fans came out to condemn the actions of the fans in the video, rightly saying their actions were completely reprehensible. If you see players in public with their families, just leave them alone - it's not usually the place for a meet and greet.
At the end of the day, this is just one isolated distraction for the fans and media, but the players will pay no mind to this. Just like McDavid in the video, the Oilers have reached a level of maturity where they just put their heads down and power through any form of adversity. Now, they'll have to do it against the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final.
