According to WCVB-TV Boston this morning, Milan Lucic's court case has come to a close today as the persecution has dropped the charges, after a judge ruled a critical piece of evidence was inadmissible.
Lucic was being charged for his role in an alleged domestic incident. After his wife declined to testify in court and the judge had ruled her 911 call to be inadmissible in court, the prosecution had to drop charges with insufficient evidence to proceed with the case. The trial in front of the judge was set to begin today, before the charges were dropped.
Lucic is currently on leave from the Boston Bruins, and is wishing to return to the NHL after this incident. With the court's decision today, Lucic's lawyer is apparently confident he will be able to make a return. Lucic has also entered the player assistance program, and could be meeting with the comissioner Gary Bettman to discuss a return in the near future. Lucic is only signed until the end of this season with the Bruins for a cap hit of $1M.
