Insider reveals Jake Walman may have change of status in Oilers lineup

The Edmonton Oilers have made it to the Conference Final without top paid defender Mattias Ekholm, and now may be at risk of losing Jake Walman as well.
Ekholm has been ruled out of today's game, but clearly is progressing toward an imminent return. Walman however, seems to be battling to stay in the lineup at all.
Oilers insider raises concern over injury to defenceman Jake Walman
According to Oilers insider Jim Matheson, some red flags were raised by Walman missing practices for maintenance that were otherwise at full attendance.
Walman's clearly trying to rest an injury to stay in the lineup, but it's not a good sign for his health. Matheson is concerned Walman could miss time, but as per usual for the NHL playoffs, it would not be surprising to see him keep playing through the pain.
It's important to remember that Walman also missed nearly 2 weeks with injury to end the season, and made his return in Game 1 vs Los Angeles. Getting deeper into the postseason, that issue may still be lingering.
Jake Walman has been great addition to Oilers blue line
The Oilers paid the most to acquire
Trent Frederic at the trade deadline, but their deal for Jake Walman has been far more important to helping their blue line.
The 29 year old defender has been a great two-way player, with abilities to move the puck and play a strong, physical defensive game. Under contract for $3.4M next season too, he's on the Oilers at great value.
Hopefully he'll be able to stay in the lineup for the rest of the series. Wrapping up the Conference Final in 5 games may go a long way for some rest before the Cup Final.
