Evander Kane has reportedly faced an assault from a group of people outside a bar in downtown Vancouver.

The Edmonton Oilers just traded Evander Kane to his hometown Vancouver Canucks last week. Some Canucks fans weren't happy with the trade, believing Vancouver was helping the Oilers out and taking on a locker room risk.

Evander Kane reportedly jumped by group of people outside Vancouver bar

The 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast - a source that's accurately broke Oilers news this season - Kane was jumped last night in Vancouver, and needed medical attention after the fact. The source indicates that video evidence will soon be provided, proving that Kane did nothing wrong.
More Vancouver sources indicate that Kane was attacked by multiple people outside a bar in downtown Vancouver.
It's absolutely awful news to hear that Kane faced such a brutal event. This should've been a great homecoming week, but this is just disgusting.

Evander Kane thrilled to be joining his hometown Vancouver Canucks

The Oilers had to trade Evander Kane this offseason to clear his salary of $5.125M to sign other players, and received a 4th round draft pick for him. The Oilers even did Kane a favour to trade him to his hometown upon his request. In his time with the Oilers, Kane was a great with giving back to the Edmonton community.
Earlier this week, Kane spoke about how thrilled he was to be playing for his hometown team, and how much hockey means to the city of Vancouver. Coming from a rival Edmonton team, Kane said he hoped the fans would quickly accept him.
Hopefully Kane and his family are okay after the altercation, and the people responsible are held accountable.
