Edmonton Oilers linked to trading for 40 goal scorer from Seattle Kraken

The Oilers forward group may be more unreliable this season by relying on rookies Ike Howard and Matthew Savoie in key roles. Perhaps near the trade deadline or earlier, they look to bring in veteran forward help - like Jared McCann.

According to a new report from RonoAnalayst, the Seattle Kraken are open to trading Jared McCann this offseason as they rebuild their team. Other analysts believe the Edmonton Oilers would be a prime fit.

The 29 year old left winger has two more seasons on his contract with only a $5M cap hit, and incredible number relative to his offensive output.

Since gaining more ice time with the Kraken post-expansion draft, McCann has emerged into an established NHL sniper, and effective two way player. In 2022-23, he topped out with a career year of 40 goals and 70 points.

The Edmonton Oilers have enough wingers after their offseason additions, but adding a talent like McCann should always be considered. If one of Howard or Savoie don't live up to expectations before the playoffs, there will be room for another top 6 player.

If the Oilers would be able to find a way to add Jared McCann, their already league-best offence would take another massive step, hopefully propelling them to a Cup win.
