Petrovic was the Stars' 6th defender, but still made waves in the series against the Oilers by injuring
Connor Brown with a questionable hit.
Dallas Stars place Alex Petrovic on waivers after playoff series vs Oilers
According to PuckPedia, the Dallas Stars have officially placed Petrovic on waivers tonight. Any team will be able to claim him, or he will pass down to
the AHL's Texas Stars for their playoff run.
A 33 year old defenceman from Edmonton, Petrovic has played 269 career NHL games with the Panthers, Oilers, and Stars since being drafted in
the second round of the 2010 Draft. Petrovic spent the most of this season in the AHL, and definitely won't be claimed.
Despite getting some playoff games this season, it's likely the twilight of Petrovic's NHL career. He only played 10:53 of ice time in the final game against Edmonton, and handedly lost his minutes when called upon.
Petrovic clipped Connor Brown and knocked him out of the last 2 games of the Dallas series, but thankfully, Brown is expected back for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. Given the hit and his removal from the lineup for multiple games, it's likely he was placed in the NHL's concussion protocol.
It looks like once again though, the Edmonton Oilers beat a team so easily it's causing the front office to rapidly make some decisions in players' futures. Good teams show you who you really are, and the Oilers have been a wake up call for multiple opponents now.
