The Edmonton Oilers recently held picture day for their roster and held a meet and greet for fans, which led to a special moment with Connor McDavid and a young fan.
The Oilers have always been a first-class organization when it comes to fan outreach and events, and last night McDavid skirted protocol to make it even better for one kid.

At the meet and greet, there were strict rules and postings in multiple locations that players would not be signing autographs.
One kid approached McDavid holding a marker anyway, and security immediately stepped in to stop it from happening. Instead, McDavid ignored security, and gladly signed the jersey for the young fan.
It was a great moment showing McDavid’s selflessness when it comes to fans. It’s just a small simple rule to be broken that will create an amazing memory for that kid.
Other fans have told their stories that McDavid specifically took the time to call young fans by their name, creating a memory that McDavid knows them.
It’s incredible that McDavid takes these moments now to make interactions special for young fans. It’s most important with the kids to make them feel special, and give a boost of confidence from one of their idols. Earlier in his career, McDavid was far more reserved and awkward when meeting fans, but he’s opened up far more as he’s got older.
From Connor McDavid himself to the Oilers organization, it’s a great event put on for those who really bankroll everything they have - the fans.
