Last night was an emotional game in Chicago, as Patrick Kane returned for the first time now with the Detroit Red Wings. The game had a storybook ending as Kane sealed the night with an overtime game winning breakaway goal, and came out to salute the crowd afterwards. With questions still existing about Kane's future beyond this year, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman believes the Blackhawks may pursue a reunion with Kane.
Friedman speculated that both the Blackhawks organization and Kane would be interested in a reunion after seeing the incredible reception he got from the fans. Chicago has toughened out another year of their rebuild, and now with Bedard and another great talent from this year's draft, there's perhaps enough to entice Kane to come back to Chicago. The team is undoubtedly looking for veterans too after losing Corey Perry this season.
This season, the now 35 year old Kane is proving his doubters wrong coming off a tough double hip surgery. In 27 games, Kane's recorded an impressive 12 goals and 28 points. He's the greatest American player to date, and it shouldn't be surprising that Kane is still an elite talent.
