The Los Angeles Kings are making a hard push this offseason to finally get past the Oilers in the playoffs, and are adding another former Oiler in Cody Ceci.

Former Edmonton GM Ken Holland is now running the show for the Kings, and is picking off a slew of former Oilers. The Kings now have Warren Foegele, Corey Perry, Cody Ceci, and Anton Forsberg.

LA Kings sign Cody Ceci for shutdown defence role as they look to finally beat Edmonton Oilers

According to reports from multiple NHL insiders, the Kings have finalized a deal with Ceci for 4 years with a $4.5M salary.
On top of signing Corey Perry and Cody Ceci, the Kings have also signed goalie Anton Forsberg and defenceman Brian Dumoulin.
Oilers fans and Ken Holland know Cody Ceci well from his time spent in Edmonton from 2021 to 2024. Ceci mostly lined up next to Darnell Nurse on a defensive shutdown pairing that heavily struggled in the playoffs, which led to Ceci being dealt to clear cap space.
Ceci found another opportunity last season being traded to the Dallas Stars at the deadline, showing the NHL and Ken Holland clearly still think highly of Ceci. The former Oilers defender is expected to take the shutdown role in LA, which will be key in another potential playoffs against Edmonton.
Put simply, Oilers fans are laughing at Holland's decisions to blow the Kings cap space entirely on some questionable contracts.
Oilers fans will obviously take Connor McDavid to absolutely dust Ceci and the Kings in a playoff series again, but at this point, the Kings have made far more additions than Edmonton - who has been entirely quiet as they only lose players.
