It's been a tough season for the Montreal Canadiens 1st overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky. After being taken instead of who many believed should of went 1st overall, Shane Wright, some of the Habs fanbase didn't approve of the pick and booed him at the draft.
The Canadiens new Management of Executive Vice President Jeff Gorton and General Manager Kent Hughes would tell fans to relax and assured fans this was the right decision. However, many wondered if the 18 year-old Slovakian should of played elsewhere instead of the NHL to further his development.
Slafkovsky has just 4 goals, and 6 assists with a -13 rating in 39 games this season. Many hockey insiders believed that Slafkovsky playing alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, or Kirby Dach could of been in contention for the Calder Trophy. That's obviously not going to happen, and some are already comparing him to Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who the Canadiens took 3rd Overall and is no longer with the Canadiens.
