With the playoffs only a few weeks away, NHL head coaches have time to work with their assistance and develop a strategy for who their first-round opponent will be.
Most NHL teams will have a pretty good idea by now who they will be facing it needs to be prepared for what's coming.
This gives head coaches a chance to try different lines and put players with others that were unexpected or not thought of. Head coach Jay Woodcroft decided to throw a curveball at oiler fans by inserting Kailer Yamamoto is on the first line with McDavid and Kane.
Oiler fans felt this was unexpected it had resulted in a few memes on Twitter voicing their confusion.
I do feel with Evander Kane's recent inconsistent play and the fact that Yamamoto has great speed will help compliment Connor McDavid and give him a scoring winger while keeping Leon dry seidel down the lineup to spread out his offence.
The Oilers have a few weeks of runway to try these lines and see if they will work.
