The Oilers are banged up and could use a spark, former player Zach Kassian isn't the answer. However, Oilers General Manager Ken Holland is looking to add some toughness to the line up and possibly some added offence. The player in mind is Arizona Coyotes forward Nic Ritchie which is suggested by multiple sources to be linked to the Oilers.
Ritchie has been a beast for the Coyotes since being traded there by the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the truth is in his stats. In 44 games since being moved there, he has 16 goals to go along with 24 points.
Ritchie is also a tough guy with a big 6'3 body that loves to throw a big hit when the opportunity arises. The Oilers would have to also get the Coyotes to retain salary, but the Coyotes are a team that loves draft picks, and may be interested in Jesse Puljujarvi, who has been on the Oilers trade block for nearly a year and is need of a top line role with a struggling franchise, to maybe take pressure off his shoulders and to rejuvenate his game.
