From helping to launch the career of Wayne Gretzky and winning a total of five Stanley Cups, the Edmonton Oilers are regarded as one of the most prominent franchises in the NHL.

On August 28th, 2023, the Pride Cup was held by the team, and it was a star-studded event, with an Alumni game taking place, among other things, as well as a number of other activities.

I'm no longer a Oilers fan go woke go broke goodbye Edmonton you just lost a fan

As part of the event, alumni of both the Edmonton Oilers, such as Ladi Smid, Mark Fistric & Tyler Bunz, as well as members of the Western Hockey League, the Edmonton Oil Kings, attended.

Apparently, the harmless event pissed off Oilers fans so much that they used the popular phrase "Go Woke, Go Broke" to condemn it.

There appears to have been an uproar online following the event, and many fans are expressing their anger about it and expressing their indignation to the team regarding it.

The way in which you have responded to an event of this magnitude seems to me to be absurd.
