Recently, he was interviewed on John Scott's Dropping The Gloves podcast about his 14-year NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens, the New Jersey Devils, and the Edmonton Oilers.
It wasn't meant to be how things turned out for Souray, who spent 2007 to 2010 in Edmonton's organization and signed a five-year, $27 million contract to fill the gap left by Chris Pronger's departure.
His interactions with Craig McTavish left him sour, despite being excited to be able to play closer to home.
In addition to McTavish being berated in front of the team when he couldn't train because of injury, he also was berated for suggesting how to improve the facility.
At this point, the culture was not helping because, in addition, he had a staph infection, and the team suspected he was milking it.
As a result of a near fight with GM Steve Tambellini, his time in Edmonton ended, and he had a stint in the American Hockey League Hershey followed by a buyout.
Although he likes the current Oilers team, he dislikes the owner, Darryl Katz.
