Team Canada announced today its roster for the 94th annual Spengler Cup. The Spengler is held every year in Davos Switzerland and Oilers fans should be happy to see that six of their former players are on this year's roster.
Former Oilers
Riley Nash, Alan Quine, Brendan Perelini, David Desharnais, Tyler Ennis, and Colton Sceviour will attend the tournament and hope to bring home the Spengler Cup to Canada.
Notably, Riley Nash who was drafted by the Oilers in 2007 in the first round and 21st overall never played for the team he ended up being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2010 Entry draft for a second-round choice.
Currently, he's playing for the Charlotte Checkers, he's played 27 games and has scored ten goals with 15 assists for 25 points.
Former NHLer Shane Doan was named general manager, and Travis Green will serve as head coach. Last year Team Canada brought home the Spengler Cup and hopes to win its 17th title. Canada currently holds the most titles at 16.
