Since Kane is anticipated to be able to return in the closing stages of the season, they are unlikely to want to sign anyone to a substantial deal because they will need to return to cap compliance in order to add Kane to the active squad. In terms of bringing up a replacement, Ken Holland probably won't be much more active than that, assuming AHL recalls (of which they've already made two). One more recall could occur eventually as they still still have one vacant roster place and plenty of LTIR space.
