It has been reported on several occasions by multiple NHL reps that the Edmonton Oilers are interested in acquiring the services of Montreal Canadiens defensemen Joel Edmundson, but now it appears an even higher caliber defensemen is on the Oilers' trade watch..

NHL insider Pierre LeBrun has revealed that the Oilers have discussed trading for defensemen John Klingberg, and have stated he would be a better version of Tyson Barrie, who may fetch some value elsewhere..

LeBrun on Insider Trading says Oilers have discussed internally John Klingberg and Joel Edmundson. Habs are not looking to move Edmundson, but they are open to listening to offers.

The Anaheim Ducks have John Klingberg on their blue-line and are second last in the NHL, it's officially ''tank for Bedard'' mode for them, and they'll be trading away their assets before or at the NHL's trade deadline..
