Other teams meanwhile are in the market to sell and tried to race to the bottom to claim that top five draft choice to help rebuild their team. This day will send fans on a roller coaster of emotions until the clock strikes 3 pm.
This trade deadline has had no shortage of speculation and there is a growing sense among a few people that general manager Ken Holland may stand pat with his lineup and not make the changes that are necessary to improve the team.
Holland has stated the Oilers issue is in the locker room, and defense. He feels as if he doesn't need to make a trade.
For myself, I feel the Oilers should make some changes to their lineup as most fans say the same. Their defence corps and bottom six are not strong enough to go on a long playoff run and a shot for the Stanley Cup.
Their left-side defence is very weak as they only have two NHLers with experience Darnell Nurse and Brett Kulak. They also lack depth scoring on their bottom 6 forwards to counterbalance any loss of McDavid or Draisaitl if teams decide to shut them down.
Time will tell if Holland decides to take a swing at a high-value player or two or stay the course and work it out in the locker room.
