Last night, the Tampa Bay Lightning continued their fall from grace this season. After losing to the Dallas Stars earlier this week by a score of 8-1, the Lightning bounced back for two games, but were then throttled 5-1 by the Predators last night.
After the game, Predators' head coach Andrew Brunette was livid with Watson's play, saying there's «no place in the game» for such cowardly attacks.
Watson, now 31 years old and signed by the Lightning this offseason, has built a reputation from his time in Ottawa as being one of the most senselessly dirty players in the league. In his career, he's played 497 games, while recording 115 points and 672 penalty minutes. It's not likely Watson will be fined or suspended for this awful incident, but the Predators will sure remember it when they next play each other.
