During the Washington Capitals' game against the Winnipeg Jets on December 23, superstar defenseman John Carlson suffered a serious injury. Carlson was injured by a slapshot to the ear and put on injured reserve.

The latest information on John Carlson's injuries was quite graphic, according to his wife. Carlson's ear was apparently left dangling from the power of the slapshot and had to be surgically reattached.

Carlson will get a much-needed rest before the playoffs after being placed on LTIR. Carlson should be able to help the Capitals chance at the cup by returning stronger than before.
