Moments ago in tonight's game between the Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks, things got interesting and heated between two of the league's worst teams. Midway through the third period with the Blackhawks laying a 6-2 beating on the Ducks, tensions boiled over in a scrum behind the net. Multiple fights broke out, goalie Petr Mrazek got involved, and then Ducks goalie John Gibson skated down the ice to join.

Mrazek was going hard after Radko Gudas when Gibson decided he needed to step in and stop his opposing goalie, skating down the ice while tossing off his mask and gloves for a fight. Gibson tried his best to get at Mrazek, but the referees had to step in and deescalate the situation.

Unfortunately for hockey fans, today's NHL referees seem to have a strict mandate of preventing goalie fights. There's a severe penalty for crossing the center ice line as a goalie for a fight as well, which Gibson will be assessed.
