47 year old Terry Ryan fights in return to professional hockey
After an over 20 year retirement from professional hockey, a few days ago, the Newfoundland Growlers made the incredible signing of 47-year-old Terry Ryan. A former first round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 1995, Ryan went on to play only 8 NHL games and a slew on minor league games before retiring and working as an actor and author.
With his hometown Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL in desperate need for players, Ryan decided to lace up and return to professional hockey. In his first game, Ryan dropped the gloves for an incredible fight.
Ryan ended up getting a few decent jabs in, but was ultimately taken down by his opponent pretty handedly in only a few moments. Despite the age gap, clearly his opponent didn't go lightly on Ryan.
It's fantastic to see one of hockey's greatest enforcers come back for another tilt.
