Two obscure new Oilers who could make the NHL roster revealed
Two Edmonton Oilers' prospects are receiving positive reports by NHL Insiders; but one analyst in particular believes they could be ready to make a jump to the NHL.
Quinn Hutson, a 23-year old RW, and Viljami Marjala, a 22-year old LW, have both had impressive junior careers, that can translate into very good NHL careers.
I also think Quinn Hutson could find his way via strong Bakersfield work and some luck. I'm flummoxed by Viljami Marjala's numbers and if he's real then maybe there's a place.

Quinn Hutson was undrafted and signed with Edmonton on April 14, 2025 as a free agent. Though he played in only 2 games with the Oilers last year, his production with Boston University was prolific.
In 38 games played, Quinn scored 23G and 23A, for better than a point-per-game. And it wasn't a one-off. In 79 games with Boston in the two previous years, he scored 33G and 31A.
Viljami Marjala was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres 159th overall in 2021. The next two major-junior seasons with the Quebec Ramparts of the QMJHL, Marjala scored 18G and 55A (73 points) in 98 games.
He has an above-average capacity to move the puck and assist on goals. Playing in Finland in the Liiga, Viljami recorded 8G and 44A in 54 games in 2024-25, and 17G and 23A in 60 games played the season before.
Quinn Hutson was also a USHL All-Star in 2022, and a Hockey East All-Star in 2025. He is a fast-paced player with a pro-level shot and strong defensive instincts, according to scouting reports, a RW known for playmaking and offensive drive.
According to a DobberProspects report, Marjala is skilled offensive forward who can play at center or wing. An excellent skater and capable of making plays at high speed.
