Paul Coffey was already a legend in Edmonton for his playing career, but his coaching this year has taken him to another level of respect for Oilers fans - and other teams across the league, who want to hire him.
Coffey never wanted to take the Oilers coaching job, but now may be fielding offers from plenty of other teams. He hasn't made a decision about returning next year officially, but Coffey emphatically said he will be with the Oilers or no where else in a recent interview.
The Ontario-born franchise legend was drafted by the Oilers in 1980, and went on to win three Stanley cups with the team and have a Hall of Fame career with 8 different teams: but Edmonton has been his home in the NHL. It's been amazing to see what the legend has done behind the bench for the defence, especially developing Bouchard, but his dedication to the City and team is also amazing to see.
It's been rumoured that the 63 year old Coffey wishes to go back into retirement after just the half season coaching the Oilers, and if he does, fans will wish him well. Still, every Oiler fan, and even Kris Knoblauch, are all hoping that he does make the decision to return. It's been incredible having him on the bench.
