Oilers players share World Series picks, McDavid speaks on Blue Jays playoff run

Most Oilers players themselves know the rigours of competing for a professional championship, and now they're clearly enjoying kicking back to watch some other athletes in a different sport do the same.

At a recent practice, each Oilers player was asked to predict the winner of the Blue Jays and Dodgers World Series. A few players were clearly excited to cheer for Toronto, but a few others think they'll lose to LA.

Zach Hyman was taken aback by the question entirely, making it obvious that he's rooting for the Blue Jays. Curtis Lazar, Cal Pickard, and Matt Savoie also picked the Jays without hesitation.

Trent Frederic and David Tomasek both picked the Jays to win, but qualified they think the Dodgers could win given their star power. Ike Howard picked the Dodgers flat-out.

Oilers captain Connor McDavid also revealed he's fully dialled into the Jays playoff run and has been watching the games.

McDavid also gave props to baseball players in general for the talent it takes to compete in their sport. The best player in hockey said that hitting an MLB pitch may be the hardest aspect of any professional sport.

It's cool to see professional athletes stand up and root for another team so openly - especially when it's not even a local team.

Maybe the Oilers will take some personal lessons from the postseason run of this Jays team, and use it this year.
