Newly acquired Connor Ingram is not quite ready to become one of Edmonton's top-three goaltenders, based largely on his less-than-stellar play in Bakersfield.

Ingram was excellent in his first start (one goal on 22 shots), but not nearly as good in his next one (five goals on 29 shots). Those two appearances came on Oct. 18 and 24. The 28-year-old needs more work.

Ingram is certainly someone to keep an eye on, but barring an injury or something completely unforeseen, don't expect him with the big club soon.

Oilers' newest netminder not ready for the NHL

When the Oilers acquired Connor Ingram from Utah, there was some hope that he would settle the goalie dilemma created by Skinner's inconsistencies in goal, with fans eagerly awaiting his arrival in Edmonton.
At that time, there was not much faith in Skinner that he could be Edmonton's number 1 goalie. Yet, his play has been decent this year, and sometimes excellent, putting up a 2.43 GAA and a .903 SV%. Like I said, decent.
Calvin Pickard, on the other hand, though he allowed only one goal on 15 shots in one game. went .818, .815, .852 in his three subsequent starts. If Ingram were ready, we would have already seen him in an Oilers' uniform.
What we must remember is that Connor Ingram hadn't played a game since February. Then he entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program to receive support in coping with his mother's death from breast cancer.
He's only just recently continued his professional hockey career. To expect more from Ingram is unrealistic. Most analysts will tell you that he will need to play at least 200 NHL games before his level of play can be assessed.
In the meantime, he will continue to develop in the AHL.
