Stuart Skinner has dropped some weight coming into Oilers training camp, but it wasn't as much as initially reported.
According to a team release earlier this week, Skinner weighed in at 205 pounds - down 25 from his listed weight of 230 last year. That would've been a major change, but it wasn't quite as dramatic as reported.

Speaking to the media after official weigh-ins, Stuart Skinner clarified that while he did shed some weight, it wasn't as much as previously reported. He's revealed he's at 215 pounds.
Defintiely not 205. I don't know if that'd be healthy for me.
I'm still pretty big, so I don't think you guys will notice I'm smaller. Maybe even bigger, because I've been working out my upper body this summer, so I got bigger biceps.»
«I put on a pair of pants, recently, and I was like 'I lost some waist size. I might have to spend some money here.»
- Stuart Skinner
Coming into the season lighter, Skinner hopes he'll gain some agility in his lateral movement, help his joint health, and assist the longevity of his career.
Last season Skinner had a career-worst .896 save percentage, and his struggles persisted into the playoffs. This is a critical season for him and a contract year, so he needs to do everything possible to reach his peak.
So far it's a positive sign for Skinner, but if he isn't able to find his game consistently through the regular season, the Oilers will be forced to acquire a goalie at the deadline. Entering another playoffs with the weakest goaltending in the NHL isn't an option in a make-or-break season.
