It was announced prior to Game 5 that Oilers forward Corey Perry ties Wayne Gretzky and Jaromir Jagr with the 16th most playoff games played in NHL history.

To be tied with those two icons certainly is a great accolade to have as all three have had long careers.

Many fans and pundits felt that it was the end of the road for Perry as he was scratched for a few games during this series. He did not look effective and looked slow which led head coach Kris Knoblauch to scratch him for the first three games of this series.

This year's playoffs has not been kind to the 39 year old forward has he has played thirteen games this postseason and has only one assist.
That notion changed after having a rebound game 4 as he established himself and help win the game.

Perry, was signed by the Oilers in February 2024. After being terminated by the Blackhawks earlier in the year due to poor conduct at a team event, the Oilers felt he would be the right fit to help put them over the top as he has vast playoff experience and several cup finals while winning the cup with the Ducks in 2007.

After Game five, it's likely the Oilers will keep him in the lineup for the remainder of the series and if they advance certainly will be in the Stanley Cup finals.

Game six will be held in Edmonton and park drop will be on June 2nd at 8:30 PM eastern.
