The Edmonton Oilers' biggest organizational priority this offseason will be re-signing Connor McDavid, and an NHL insider has just shared an update after their free agency results.

On today's edition of 32 Thoughts Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman said there's absolutely no organizational panic that McDavid will be leaving the Oilers.
There's McDavid, and we'll see where this goes during the summer. This is not one I'm worried about. I'm not, I think he extends. I just don't know what the term of that is going to be.
I think there'll be no fight at all with McDavid. What do you want? Fine. What are we going to pay you? We'll do it.
And again, I think he's going to sign. I just don't know the term. I'm not honestly. I think I've been around long enough to know when there's fear of losing someone. I don't feel that here. I just don't.

Edmonton will essentially not even negotiate with McDavid, there's just going to toss him a blank cheque and let him pick the terms. However, convincing him he has a chance to win in Edmonton long-term is the way to get him.
For now, doing nothing to address the team's biggest weakness in net isn't a positive sign to McDavid, but they still have time and can share a plan he could agree with.
At the end of the day, McDavid knows he has the best chance to win in Edmonton with the group they've built, including his best friend Leon Draisaitl. There's no worry he'll re-sign in Edmonton, but he does want to see the team make ruthless improvements.
