It seems there are two schools of thought on what the Oilers should do regarding their goaltending situation. While many fans feel another goaltender would give them peace of mind and offer insurance, others including dailyfaceoff.com's CEO Frank Seravalli think the Oilers would be making a mistake in trading for a new goalie.
It certainly makes sense on what Seravalli is thinking in terms of other issues that are plaguing the team that need to be addressed. The team needs depth scoring and some toughness on their bottom 6 along a possible upgrade in their defensive defensemen. That's certainly quite a bit to resolve in such a short time.
Stuart Skinner, who has been shaky over the past few games has shown he is a capable #1 goalie who can carry this team. But with the rigor of the stretch run and hopes for a long playoff run, the Oilers may find themselves in trouble during the playoffs if Skinner begins to crumble. I don't feel that Calvin Pickard and Jack Campbell are the answer for them.
